an experienced and informative guide in vehicles
specially adapted for safari.
Experience the real wilderness of Botswana on a
mobile safari where you can enjoy the comfort of
a camp bed with linen, en-suite bathroom with a
crew that will assist you to provide the best
comfort and prepare excellent meals.
Day 1 Johannesburg
At your arrival at Johannesburg International
Airport you will be met by a Mal d’Africa
Safaris representative and taken to the hotel.
Afternoon at leisure. B&B
Day 2 Johannesburg – Maun – Moremi Game Reserve
Breakfast and shuttle transport to O.T. Int.
Airport. At your arrival at Maun International
airport you will be met by your guide. Enjoy
lunch in a local restaurant and depart for a
scenic flight that will take you into Moremi
Game reserve in the Okavango delta. On arrival
at the camp you will be introduced to camping in
Botswana style. A short afternoon game drive is
planned to explore the region. There are
sundowners before returning to the camp where a
three course dinner is served under the African
sky.
See the Southern Cross swirl and stars you have
never seen before.
Day 3 Moremi Game Reserve
Wake up early for a coffee with a light
breakfast before the exploration of the channels
which are of the permanent waterways of the
Okavango Delta. This is a mokoro excursion.
Lunch is served on a island. On our way back we
will explore new area in search of games not
seeing yet. Sundowner then dinner.
Day 4 Xakanaxa – Khwai River
The support team breaks down the camp while we
game drive to our next camp in the Khwai region
just north of the Moremi Game Reserve. This area
is somewhat drier as it is east of the delta.
The change in habitat heralds a change in the
dominant wildlife species and all this is
explored before arriving at the new camp which
has been already set up. After lunch it is time
for a siesta before leading out on the afternoon
game drive. Dinner is at the camp. Star gaze to
see the milky way clearly!
Day 5 Khwai River
The stay in the Khwai area gives time to explore
the vast floodplain that support a great variety
of game and birds. Today is the opportunity to
watch hippo in action if they are in one of the
many pools along the Khwai river. After lunch
and siesta our late afternoon game drive will
take on a final exploration of the area. A break
to watch the sunset and to take in the sounds of
the African bush is a memory which will last
forever. A night-drive hunting for more of the
nocturnal wildlife in the area. We return to
camp for dinner listening chorus of owls which
are characteristic of the area at night.
Day 6 Khwai River – Chobe National Park
After a leisurely breakfast you depart for
Savuti in the Chobe National Park. The drive
takes us through ever changing scenery as you
pass through the famous Mababe depression and
Savuti marsh to arrive at our camp along the
Savuti channel. Savuti is famous for its large
population of Bull Elephant who are dependant on
the three water holes in the region. Because the
elephants must visit the waterholes you are
guaranteed of seeing elephant’s interaction as
the loose herds gather and split up again after
quenching their thirst. The afternoon drive
takes you to the famous Pump Pan where the sun
sets behind the Camel Thorn trees with the
elephants silhouetted in the foreground. Back at
the camp you should hear the plaintive call of
the jackal, often referred to as the 'Cry of the
kalahari' and the eerie whooping of the hyenas,
infamous inhabitants of the region.
Day 7 Chobe National Park - Savute
Our morning and afternoon explorations will take
you to the 'Big Baobab' and the surroundings to
enjoy a breathtaking landscape. Exploring the
vast open grasslands of the Old Marsh you will
hopefully get to see some of the rarer game in
the region including cheetahs and the solitary
leopard. Sunset takes us back to either Pump Pan
or Disaster Pan to catch the last haunting rays
of the day with many experiences to ponder upon.
Day 8 Chobe National Park – Chobe River
You depart Savuti and cross the Goha Sandridge
on your way to the northern region of Chobe
National Park along the Chobe River. The Chobe
river supports a large number of game species
but is renowned for its numerous breeding herds
of elephants which gather along the river in
their hundreds to drink at the sunset. After
getting settled into the camp you spend the
afternoon exploring the riverside observing the
wonderful wildlife.
Day 9 Chobe National Park – Chobe River
This morning’s drive explores further the
riverfront as you familiarize yourselves with
the area. On the way back to the camp take one
of the more inland routes to find the elusive
roan and sable antelope which are fairly common
in the area but rather difficult to find. Back
at the camp it's brunch and siesta time again.
In the afternoon you will depart for an amazing
boat cruise on the Chobe River. This will give
you the opportunity to get a hippo's eye view of
the surrounding countryside and will provide
some good opportunities to see the elephant
drinking and swimming from the river
perspective. Birdlife abounds on the river and
depending on the time of year there are numerous
rarities awaiting discovery.
Day 10 Chobe River - Livingstone/Victoria
Falls
You leave the park to head to Zambia where you
will stay in a comfortable lodge. This is a
leisure day to enjoy the fantastic view of the
Victoria Falls and to experience one of the many
optional activities and outings available in the
area such as micro light flight or helicopter
flight over the waterfalls or to explore the
beautiful local craft market. Breakfast and
dinner are included.
Day 11 Livingstone - Johannesburg
There is breakfast and transport to the airport
where you will catch your flight back to
Johannesburg with a bag full of memories you
will never forget!
